The Museum of Lower Austria GmbH is a nonprofit cultural society, the more than 700 museums, collections, memorials, exhibition centers and theme paths in the Austrian state of Lower Austria looked after. The objectives of Museum Management Lower Austria are to promote the positive development and image enhancement of the museum facilities in Lower Austria with applied cultural work and cultural mediation, as well as to contribute to the preservation and accessibility of the cultural heritage of the state. Museum spring Lower Austria

Since 1978, the International Museum Day proclaimed by the International Council of Museums ICOM has been celebrated every year in May to highlight the importance and diversity of museums. On the occasion of this day, the Museum Management Niederösterreich has been organizing the Museum Spring Lower Austria since 2016. Approx. 100 museums and collections - from local, city, abbey and regional museums to large exhibition halls - draw attention to themselves nationwide on a weekend in May with special programs.

Projects

In the cross-border Interreg project “Heritage SK-AT”, the cultural heritage of the border region Austria - Slovakia is researched, digitized and presented.

The communication of the cultural heritage of the common border area of ​​South Bohemia, Vysočina, South Moravia and Lower Austria is part of the Interreg project “I-Cult”.

Other projects are dedicated to research into the ten oldest Lower Austrian city museums ("MuseumsMenschen" in cooperation with Danube University Krems ), a quality offensive for Lower Austrian museum depots ("Treasures in the shop window" in cooperation with the University of Applied Arts in Vienna ) and the collection Refurbishment of the former war museums from the First World War.
