The Museum Mile is an ensemble of five museums in the federal city of Bonn . The term was coined in the mid-1990s, when several new museums were built within a few years to the south of central Bonn , which encompasses five museums along Bundesstraße 9 over a length of approx. 3 km .

The Museum Mile begins in the north with the Koenig Zoological Museum , which is located on the section of the federal road called Adenauerallee . About 500 meters away, the mile continues on Willy-Brandt-Allee with the House of History, and after another 200 meters on Friedrich-Ebert-Allee, two buildings in the immediate vicinity continue, the Bonn Art Museum and the Kunst- und Exhibition hall of the Federal Republic of Germany , also called Bundeskunsthalle for short .

Between these two buildings there is a square (often called the Museum Square ) that was mainly used for concerts from 1997 to 2011. The stage and the auditorium were protected from the elements by a tent roof construction hanging from masts and open at the sides, which was built in 1997 and dismantled and sold in 2012.

The ensemble comes to an end after two more kilometers from the Deutsches Museum Bonn , a branch of the Deutsches Museum in Munich , a little off the main road . This building is located on Ahrstrasse, a side street off Kennedyallee , which also joins the B 9 about 500 meters away. All museum buildings in Bonn can be reached by tram . The Koenig Museum has a station named after him right in front of the door, as do the three other museums that have direct access via the Heussallee / Museumsmeile station . The Deutsches Museum can be reached via the Hochkreuz / Deutsches Museum Bonn station.

The Bonn Museum Mile Festival has existed since 1995 , at which all five museums offer a wide range of events over a weekend. In 2014 the 20th Museum Mile Festival took place from June 19-22.
