Musik und Gesellschaft was a music magazine in the GDR . It was published monthly from 1951 to 1990 in East Berlin by Henschelverlag .
history
The magazine was published from the first issue in March 1951 by Ernst Hermann Meyer and the State Art Commission of the GDR . In 1954 the editorship changed to the Association of Composers and Musicologists of the GDR , whose official communication body it also became. The music magazine regularly awarded a record award .
