Music format

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A music format is a file format that describes the structure of a piece of music . In contrast to the audio format , no complete audio signal is stored, but only individual notes and possibly information about the structure of sounds.

This also includes so-called chip files , which in principle consist of instructions for a sound chip . The chiptunes used in video games or from the demo scene are examples of chip files.
