Under music theory refers to the theoretical foundations of the music and the molds and composition theory , applicable at the music lessons are laid. The former include:

• General music theory ( musical notation , Tonbenennung, pitches and tonalities )
• Rhythm , measure and time
• Harmony
• Counterpoint
• Instrumentation .
