The music publisher Josef Aibl was founded by the name-giving owner in Munich in 1824 . Josef Aibl published early works by Richard Strauss and Max Reger , among others .

Company history

From 1836 to 1884 the publishing house was owned by the music publisher Eduard Spitzweg (1811-1884), a friend of Hans von Bülow , and then by Spitzweg's sons Eugen and Otto. In 1888 the publishing rights of the Josef Aibl Musikverlag and in 1892 the publishing rights of the Alfred Läuterer company were transferred to the Munich publisher Falter & Sohn . In 1904 this Munich publishing company was transferred to Universal Edition in Vienna .
