Hitzacker Music Week
Musikwoche Hitzacker is a music festival for classical music under the direction of the Berlin oboist Albrecht Mayer , which takes place annually in late winter in Hitzacker ( Lower Saxony ).
history
During the closing meeting of the Hitzacker Summer Music Days in 1983, at a meeting between the then Mayor of the city of Hitzacker , Christian Zühlke, and the conductor and trumpeter Ludwig Güttler, the idea of realizing another music festival in winter in addition to the Summer Music Days that had been established for years . Two years later, this idea was taken up again and with those responsible from the city administration, the Protestant parish, Kulturring and the tourist association in the town hall agreed to organize the first "Hitzacker Music Week" in February 1987. The Hitzacker Music Week was directed by Ludwig Güttler for 29 years. With the 30th Hitzacker Music Week 2016, Albrecht Mayer , principal oboist of the Berliner Philharmoniker , took over artistic responsibility for the festival.
concept
The musical focus is on works from the Baroque , Classical and Romantic periods . The festival is characterized by various concert formats, for example in the form of discussion, recitation and chamber concerts, artist portraits, instrument workshops and an action day on which, for example, excursions with artistic accompaniment followed by a concert. The Hitzacker Music Week aims to appeal to audiences of all ages with its program, including the younger generation. The children's concert has established itself in schools in the region as part of their music lessons. In cooperation with the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media , the artistic director Albrecht Mayer also invites music students to Hitzacker to give a concert with them or to give them the opportunity to put their skills to the test in their own concert. Concertgoers are also invited to the previous open rehearsals. The Hitzacker Music Week also offers a forum for artists from the region. In cooperation with the Westwendischer Kunstverein, an exhibition by a local artist that changes every year can be seen in the Verdo during the festival period, reflecting the respective theme of the music week.
Support association
The sponsor of the music week is the "Association for the Promotion of the Music Week Hitzacker e. V. ". The friends' association was founded in 1988 by around 30 members. The number of members has since grown to almost 300, most of whom come from northern Germany . The board consists of four people. The chair is currently Dr. Dörte Schmieta.
The association has been the organizer of the Hitzacker Music Week since 1989. As the sponsor of the music week, the association forms a financial pillar with its association contributions, which contribute significantly to the implementation and maintenance of the festival. The entire work for organization and implementation is done by volunteers and volunteers .
