My New Best Friend is a British comedy series that aired on Channel 4 in 2003. It is based on the idea of getting a completely normal person to introduce a complete stranger to his friends and acquaintances as his new best friend over a weekend. This person is played by Marc Wootton . As a reward, they will receive a sum of £ 10,000. The difficult thing about it is that Marc Wootton plays very difficult and extraordinary people, who usually ridicule the respective person in front of his entire family and acquaintances and push them to their limits. Wootton plays a different character in each episode.
At the end of the weekend, Wootton gives the winner the £ 10,000 and disappears. The participant is then allowed to explain the situation and say that it was all just a game for a TV show. My New Best Friend won the Rose D'or Golden Rose Award at Montreux in 2004 and a British Comedy Award for Best New TV Comedy in 2003.
