My Stealthy Freedom

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

My Stealthy Freedom ( My Secret Freedom ) is an online movement that from that in New York living journalist Masih Alinejad was founded in May, 2014. It was launched on Facebook when Alinejad posted a photo of herself without a hijab . Iranian women can publish photos of themselves on the social network on which they do not wear a headscarf, although this is a criminal offense in Iran .

It is not about an absolute fight against the hijab, explained Masih Alinejad, it is more about being able to choose whether to wear a headscarf or not. Iran must be just as good for her mother as it is for her. Her mother wants to wear the veil, but she doesn't want to. Iran should be there for both.

In 2015 she received the "Women's Rights Award" from the Geneva Summit for Human Rights and Democracy for her work in the fight of Iranian women for fundamental human rights , freedom and equality .
