Myeloid

The cell origin of the blood cells: All cells of the blood-forming system are derived from stem cells . The precursor cells of granulocytes , monocytes , erythrocytes and thrombocytes are counted in the myeloid series.

The term myeloid (from ancient Gr . Μύελος - myelos , "marrow", meaning the bone marrow , not the spinal cord ) is a collective term for cells of the blood-forming system that cannot be assigned to the lymphatic system . The assignment is made either by the characteristic cell morphology (i.e. the typical microscopic appearance of the cells) or by immunological examinations, e.g. B. by flow cytometry ("FACS") or immunohistochemistry . Characteristic proteins are detected on the cell surface or in the cytoplasm , which allow the blood cells to be assigned to the myeloid or lymphatic series. Also, genetic studies can be consulted. Myeloid cells show e.g. B. usually no changes in the T-cell receptor - and immunoglobulin - genes , as they are typically found in lymphatic cells.
