Myranor

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Myranor is a fictional continent in the pen and paper role-playing game The Black Eye .

Development history and description

The campaign world Myranor was only introduced by Fantasy Productions in 2000, but had already appeared in some publications years before under the name Güldenland and was announced several times.

On January 20, 2006, a revision of Myranor was released as a hardcover volume, which not only presents the old texts of the 2000 box in a revised form, but also brings new texts and adapts the rules of the continent to the future rules of the role-playing game Das Schwarze Auge , but is compatible and needs the rules from "Swords and Heroes". This allows players to play on both continents without having to deal with new regulatory mechanisms.

On October 27, 2006 Fantasy Productions announced that from January 2007 Ulisses Spiele will take over the license for Myranor. However, the DSA authors Jörg Raddatz and Heike Kamaris remain in charge , as does the DSA editor-in-chief Thomas Römer . From 2009 to 2017, Myranor was published under a sub-license by Uhrwerk Verlag . Then the license went back to Ulisses as sole owner.

The continent of Myranor is much larger than Aventuria . The name is a self-designation of its residents.

In contrast to the continent of Aventuria, where only classic fantasy races such as elves , dwarfs , orcs , goblins and trolls exist in addition to lizard people, Myranor is home to numerous mixed races such as cat people and other mythical beings. The Myranor game system provides specific data on Güldenland - as the Aventurians call Myranor.

Its cultures also differ significantly from those of Aventuria. There is the empire, an old empire that has existed for several thousand years and from which the dominant culture of the Middle Kingdoms and Horasians in Aventuria is derived. The people who lived in Aventuria before the Myranian colonization were also influenced, but indirectly first by the Horasic and then by the Middle Kingdom rule. The culture of the Thorwals also derives from a Myranic culture, namely from the Hjaldingers living in northern Myranor.

There are also lands of felid (feline) creatures and much more undiscovered.

As so often in the DSA system, there is also a similarity with earthly places and cultures: Myranor often contains earthly borrowings from Asia and Indonesia , as well as partly from antiquity .

geography

Myranor is the largest continent in the Dere game world . It extends from the northern to the southern polar ice, the known area of the continent has a width of 5000 miles, a total of twice as high is assumed. All climate zones are represented. A network of rivers flowing into one another covers the country. Myranor lies west of Aventuria, separated by the Thalassion (Aventurian: Sea of the Seven Winds). The 2000 years ago, built by God Efferd Efferdwall prevent the crossing of the sea by ships myranische while Aventurian Güldenlandfahrern is possible.

countries

The greatest realm of the known Myranor is the Empire . The first empire was founded by the Archaeans around 4800 years ago . In its heyday it encompassed the entire known continent, but collapsed when the pure-bred Archaeans suddenly died out after around 1500 years and only those descendants in which the blood of the ancients is weakest survived. They became the Optimates , a class of aristocracy gifted with magic. A few centuries later they created the second empire, which in the course of time extended over a large part of the continent, but had to grant independence to several countries in the last millennium.

The empire is divided into Horasiate . Era 'Sumu is a big island. This is where the cradle of mankind is to lie. Satu priestesses live in this land. They are considered healers and belong to the House of Icemna. The Horasiat Cantera is located on the sea of the floating islands and its metropolis Balan Cantara is a huge city and also the oldest in the empire. The Horasiat Xarxaron is run by magicians who look down on non-magicians. They form the wall against the Draydal. Tharpura , the southernmost Horasiat, is officially the domain of Thearchen, but an Amaunic upper class rules over the human population in his name. The former Horasiat Koromanthia is a land of anarchy. In the jungle country of Makshapuram , the Amaunir rule over the people. Human priests of the snake gods rule on the islands of the Shindrabar archipelago. The former Horasiat Rhacornos is now ruled by the Leonir. One of the empire's greatest enemies are the Draydal, a people who worship the skull god (one of the forms in which the Aventurian nameless god is worshiped in Myranor). Their land is a barren place that they exploit mercilessly.

Cities

  • Balan Cantara - One of the largest cities in the Empire, between the Thalassion and the Sea of the Floating Islands
  • Balan Mayek - Old city on the Thalassion, formerly the main naval port of the Empire.
  • Dorinthapolis - capital of the empire, seat of Thearchen (god emperor), located on the star pillar

people

  • Humans - The most common species on Myranor are humans. The Myrans are the typical inhabitants of the empire. Most of the people from Aventuria (at least the Central Plateau) are descended from them. The Bansumites are of darker skin color and live mainly in the south and east of Myranor. The Dralquabar are a breed of people who live in the great desert of Nakramar. The Ravesaran were bred. They are handsome, but possess both sexes at the same time.
  • Amaunir - This is a very common breed of cat people. Originally from the Aumannath Forests, they have now spread across the Empire. There are different cultures of Amaunir: Nyamaunir, Waldamaunir, Djamaunir, Stadtaumaunir and Makshamauni.
  • Leonir - The Leonir are lion people and feared warriors. They own their own land, but many of them also live in the Empire.
  • Pardir - Pardir are panther people and are very wild. They are often mercenaries and are considered barbaric.
  • Tighrir - Tighrir are humanoid tigers and very solitary. They live in the eastern jungles and have long fought against the Jharra and Amaunir to conquer and defend their habitat.
  • Neristu - These beings look similar to a human, but have four arms. They have a cult of the dead, are considered outsiders in the empire and have developed a special fighting technique.
  • Ashariel - A people of human-like bird chimeras, created by the magicians of the Empire as a weapon of war for aerial combat, have developed their own culture and religion.
  • Shingwa - These little chameleon people also live in the Empire. They can camouflage themselves well because they have the ability to change colors.
  • Loualil - These beings are inhabitants of the seas, but are similar to humans. They worship the moon as their goddess. You can think of them like mermaids, but without a fish tail.
  • Risso - These fish people also live underwater and are not aggressive.
  • Satyars - These satyrs live in the Empire or as savages. They get along very well in dealing with animals and are considered lascivious.
  • Lyncil - lynx-like cat creatures that roam Northern Myranor as traders.

Gods

Myranor has a number of gods of his own. In the empire, after the suppression of the Charypta cult, a pantheon of eight state gods was defined, the octad.

  • Brajan - god of the sun and order, similar to and possibly identical to the Aventurian Praios. But there is a clear difference: In contrast to Praios, Brajan is not hostile to magic and is shown with a third eye.
  • Chrysir - god of wind. Is considered to be Brajan's younger brother.
  • Gyldara - The goddess of the home.
  • Nereton - The god of death.
  • Raia - goddess of love.
  • Shinxir - god of war.
  • Siminia - goddess of craft.
  • Zatura - goddess of fertility. Daughter of Sumu and Nereton, wife of Chrysir, most likely identical to the Aventurian Satuaria.

Other gods:

  • Skull god - god of Draydal, one of the forms in which the Aventurian nameless is known in Myranor.
  • Charypta - revered as the sea goddess, especially from the now fallen Optimate House Charybalis, her powers are demonic in nature
