The myrrh tincture is a yellowish brown clear liquid consisting of myrrh is prepared and easier to treat inflammation of the oral and pharyngeal mucosa is employed.

Myrrh tincture is made from 1 part myrrh and 5 parts 90% ethanol by maceration .

Ingredients and effects

Myrrh tincture mainly contains furanose quiterpenes such as furanoeudesma-1,3-diene (main component), furanoeudesma-1,4-dien-6-one, lindestren, curzerenone, furanodiene, 2-methoxyfuranodiene and 4,5-dihydrofuranodien-6-one, together with sesquiterpenes as α- copaene , Elemen and Bourbounen . Furanoeudesma-1,3-diene showed analgesic effects that could be reversed by naloxone, which indicates binding to opioid receptors. Furthermore, growth-inhibiting effects have been demonstrated in various bacteria.

application

Myrrh tincture is mainly used for inflammation of the gums and oral mucosa ( gingivitis , stomatitis ). Denture pressure points can also be treated with it. Myrrh tincture is dabbed undiluted on the appropriate areas or diluted with water for rinsing or gargling in the mouth and throat area .
