Mystique (band)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mystique was an R & B - and soul - singing group from Chicago . The band's biggest hit is What Would the World Be Without Music (1977).

Band history

Fred Simon and Larry Brownlee were members of The Lost Generation from 1970 to 1974 . Ralph Johnson sang with The Impressions from 1973 to 1976 . Together with Charles Fowler, these musicians founded the quartet Mystique in Chicago in 1976 . The debut single What Would the World Be Without Music hit the Billboard R&B charts in March 1977 , peaking at number 59, followed by Is It Really You , which climbed to number 77 on the R&B chart in May, and It Took a Woman Like You , which climbed to 71st place there in October. Also in 1977 was the only studio album named after the band , which includes the first two chart hits. The fourth single Dancing Lady , released in 1978, could not be placed in the charts, whereupon Mystique disbanded.

Larry Brownlee died suddenly in 1978. He was 35 years old.
