NC management system

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An NC management system ( NMS ) is primarily used to manage (C) NC data in a meaningful way. This is data from the field of numerical control ( Engl. : Numeric Control), which are used in the so-called NC production.. This describes manufacturing processes (mostly machining) u. a. from the fields of plastic, metal and wood processing.

NC machining includes at least

  1. the NC data itself that is used in the control of an NC machine in the manufacturing process,
  2. the tool list ,
  3. the setup sheet (on which tool stations which tools are used and where the NC programmer has provided the zero points ),
  4. often the NC source program if a so-called "high-level programming language " is used,
  5. Versions of all this data for several fixtures of the same work piece ,
  6. u. U. References to CAD data
  7. and further information such as possible time studies , versions of older programs, references to alternative programs for other starting dimensions (thicker blanks , etc.)

Since there is (should) be a lot of different information about a manufacturing process, it should also be managed sensibly.

In many companies, this data is often available in paper form, sorted in files. In companies that are a little more state of the art, this information is also made available in digital form.

However, it is usually the case that information that belongs together (see above) cannot be found together. The NC management system addresses this problem. There you can find all data that belong together, you have the option of merging different information, you can carry out queries about different areas and much more.
