NCTS Sicily

The Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station Sicily is a US Navy military communications station in Sicily .

The station's task is to maintain command structures, communication facilities and infrastructure for the naval air base (Naval Air Station) in Sigonella . The facilities are also used by other armed forces within the framework of NATO . NCTS operates an antenna field on leased private land near the Naval Air Station and another near Niscemi , 52.5 km southwest of Sigonella.

Long wave transmitter

At the outsourced location near Niscemi, the NCTS operates a long-wave transmitter for communication with submarines. This station also has a 253-meter-high transmission mast near the village.
