NConf is an open source software for configuring the Nagios monitoring software (and its fork Icinga ). The software is aimed primarily at system administrators who want to manage their Nagios configuration in a simple way via a graphical user interface , as opposed to the usual manual management with a text editor .

NConf allows the central administration of a distributed monitoring environment. It offers a range of enterprise technologies such as user authentication via LDAP , a database - API and the proliferation of managed configuration through secure protocols ( SCP , HTTPs ). An import mechanism for existing Nagios configurations is also available.

NConf is mainly written in PHP and Perl . All data is stored in a MySQL database. The software has the following dependencies: Nagios, Apache web server , PHP, Perl and MySQL.

history

The development of NConf began in 2006. The software was originally developed in-house and used exclusively by Sunrise Communications AG , a Swiss telecommunications company. In 2009 Sunrise decided to publish the software under the GNU General Public License (GPL). The NConf source code has been available in a public repository on GitHub since 2011 .
