history

The forerunner of the company, the "Satellite Communication " division of DASA , was largely responsible for setting up the communication infrastructure in East Germany after German reunification . When Nortel Dasa was founded in 1995, all of DASA's ground station activities were integrated into the SatCom division at Nortel. In 1997, SatCom began developing military satellite communications in Germany.

In July 2000, the independent subsidiary ND SatCom was spun off from the SatCom division of Nortel Dasa. The shareholders until mid-2006 were Augusta Technologie AG with 74.9% and SES Astra in Luxembourg. After taking over the Augusta shares at a price of 35.6 million euros, ND SatCom became a 100% subsidiary of SES Astra. In 2000, ND Satcom held a market share of over 70% in the TV sector and was the leading provider of VSAT networks.

In 2011, Astrium , a wholly owned subsidiary of EADS (now Airbus ), acquired a majority stake in ND SatCom. Initially the shareholders were Astrium (75.1%) and SES Astra (24.9%). Astrium later took over 100% of ND SatCom.

ND SatCom GmbH owned ND SatCom Defense GmbH as a subsidiary and held a 25.1% stake in Milsat Services GmbH.

On April 1st, 2014, ND SatCom GmbH and its subsidiary ND SatCom Products GmbH were transferred to a financial investor, while ND SatCom Defense GmbH, the subsidiary Milsat Services GmbH and ND SatCom Inc, Dallas / TX remained with Airbus .

In addition to the company headquarters in Immenstaad on Lake Constance, the company has additional production facilities in Beijing and Dubai and is represented with its own branches in a total of ten countries. The technology provider currently employs more than 150 people worldwide. For the major Bundeswehr project SATCOMBw , ND SatCom is supplying the ground infrastructure and technical and logistical support services for operations.

The subsidiary ND SatCom Products GmbH is responsible for the development and marketing of SKYWAN VSAT products worldwide.
