The vehicles of the type Hendrie C of the Natal Government Railways (NGR) were a Tender steam locomotives with the wheel arrangement 2'C1 '( Pacific ).
After the two Hendrie A locomotives supplied by the North British Locomotive Company could not meet demand, the NGR built two more Pacifics according to Hendrie's design in their railway workshops in Durban . They were based closely on the Hendrie A, but with the same cylinder dimensions had slightly larger coupling wheels, an external Heusinger control , a slightly higher boiler pressure and a different cab. They were given lane numbers 11 and 12.
When the NGR became part of the South African Railways (SAR) in 1910, the machines with the track numbers 765 and 766 were taken over as class 2C (classes 2A and 2B did not exist). They were in use until 1936, most recently in the Eastern Transvaal . No copy has survived.
