The Norwegian steam locomotive series NHJ E was built in 1898 as a one-off by the Swiss Locomotive and Machine Factory in Winterthur with the serial number 1087 for Norsk Hoved-Jernbane (NHJ).
history
The locomotive ordered on July 17, 1897 was initially only given the serial number 99 after delivery on March 15, 1898. On April 9, 1898 it was handed over to operations. It was not classified as series E until the new series plan of the NHJ introduced in 1900 .
NHJ G "
When the series was awarded again in 1923, the locomotives of the previous series NHJ G were renamed NHJ F " . This made the NHJ G available for a second occupation. This locomotive and the three other C-couplers built by SLM were lined up in this series NHJ G" 91, 92 and 95 of the first occupation of the NHJ F series .
Used by Norges Statsbaner
When NHJ was taken over on March 4, 1926 as the Oslo district by Norges Statsbaner (NSB), the state railway company in Norway, the NHJ 90 locomotive was given the new designation NSB Type 42a . The three other locomotives of the NHJ G "series were given their own series designation as originally with the NSB Type 43a . They were always used in the Oslo district . On August 2, 1961, it was parked, on July 4, 1962 it was finally decommissioned and scrapped .
