NK Međimurje Čakovec is a Croatian football club from the city of Čakovec .

history

The football club NK Međimurje was founded in June 2003. The basic building blocks for the club were the then second division NK Omladinac and the long tradition of football in Međimurje .

In order to promote not only the association, but the entire state, the association was named after the state of Međimurje. In the first official year in the second Croatian league (2nd HNL Sjever) , the founders achieved first place and thus direct promotion to the first Croatian league (1st HNL) thanks to a lot of enthusiasm .

At the same time as the successes on the field, the board tried both at the level of the cadre and the board of directors to transform the then amateur club into a professional club. This also affected the entire infrastructure of the club, especially the stadium, which had to be adapted to the needs of the first division as well as international needs.

In the 2007/08 season, the club's future plans suffered a major setback, as they were clearly last in the league and had to make their way to the second division. After the 2011/12 season, when they were fourteenth they were relegated to the third division .

Stadion

On the outskirts of Čakovec there is a small, modern and sporty functional stadium of NK Međimurje, which is called SRC Mladost . The stadium was built in 1987 and is owned by the city of Čakovec. The maintenance of the stadium was entrusted to the municipal company Ekom .
