The rail tractors of the series NSB Skd 215 was in 1950 by Norges Statsbaner ( German  Norwegian State Railways in) Norway used. The small locomotives manufactured by Drewry Car Co. in Great Britain were used for smaller transport tasks and for shunting on sidings and in train stations.

history

The two three-axle diesel-hydraulic small locomotives were delivered to the NSB district of Narvik in 1950 and had a typically British design. Technically and in terms of appearance, however, they are very similar to a minimally reduced V36 .

In the shunting operation in Narvik it quickly became apparent that the two rail tractors were too small for the required tasks. They were therefore soon moved to the south of the country and used for shunting in Fredrikstad and Halden .

In terms of operation and maintenance, it was a disadvantage to run a small series of locomotives, which are very different from all other series. That is why the NSB were interested in outsourcing them from the inventory. In 1972 Skd 215 105 was sold to Mesna Kartongfabrikk in Lillehammer . The locomotive suffered severe damage on the transfer run.

Therefore, Skd 215 104 was repaired and sent to Lillehammer instead. Skd 215 105 was kept by Mesna Kartongfabrikk as a spare parts donor.

After Mesna Kartongfabrikk ceased its own shunting operation, the Norsk Jernbaneklubb took over the locomotive in 1988. It is a special feature in Norwegian railway history, has excellent traction properties and was considered a good addition in the event that steam locomotives on the trains on the Krøderbane were to be replaced by diesel locomotives.

In 1988 and 1989, the rail tractor was used in many cases, both with self-operated trains and as an auxiliary locomotive for steam-driven trains.

The locomotive is in Kløftefoss with an engine failure , repair is planned.
