NSTG Liegnitz

The National Socialist Gymnastics and Sports Association (NSTG) Liegnitz was a German sports club from Liegnitz in Lower Silesia . The NSTG existed until 1945. Today, Liegnitz belongs to Poland and is called Legnica .

history

In 1937 the National Socialist Reichsbund for physical exercises urged the reunification of the ATV Liegnitz with its former football department, which had formed an independent club as SV 1896 Liegnitz since 1924 . The footballers met these efforts as they were constantly threatened with bankruptcy. The then City School Board Zeplin managed the reintegration of the footballers in 1937 and also took over the chairmanship of the fusion club, which was now called "Turn- und Sport-Verein Liegnitz", or "Tuspo Liegnitz" for short. In addition to the kickers, the former ATV was joined by several other physical exercise clubs, such as the “Liegnitzer Boxclub”. Unburdened by existential fears, the footballers could now go back to their sport.

In 1939, with the beginning of the Second World War , "Tuspo", meanwhile renamed NSTG Liegnitz, experienced a new upswing, even if the great success did not materialize. After all, the footballers returned to the prime. However, they could not keep up with the newly founded WSV Liegnitz at local level either . The existence of the association ended in 1945: at the end of the war, all existing associations were extinguished and could not be re-established in the east after flight and expulsion. Legnica became the Polish Legnica.
