National Socialist gymnastics community

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

National Socialist Gymnastics Community (NSTG) is a common name of sports clubs that arose in the areas of today's Czech Republic and Poland , which were incorporated into the German Empire from 1938 . The National Socialist rulers saw the diverse club landscape as a threat to their goal of ideological harmonization of the population, which is why they demanded that all sports should be offered in only one club per village (in larger cities possibly also in several). In all parts of Germany this led to numerous smaller associations merging, but it was only implemented consistently in the annexed eastern regions of the Sudetenland , Bohemia , Moravia , Wartheland , West Prussia and the Generalgouvernement . The NSTGs there were all extinguished with the fall of the Third Reich .
