NTPM

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

NTPM is the abbreviation for Network Termination for Primary rate Multiplex access . The NTPM is the network termination installed at the subscriber in the ISDN for primary rate connections . It is not to be confused with the NTBA , the network termination for the basic connection .

Participant side

On the subscriber side, the NTPM provides a four-pole S 2M interface ; a pair for each communication direction . Alternatively, in special cases, this can also be two coaxial cables or glass fibers .

Network operator side

3 NTPM for U K2 interface
NTPM for U G2 interface

The network operator uses various interfaces to connect the NTPM :

U K2 interface

  • Cable: two copper wire pairs
  • Line code: HDB3
  • Range range: 1.8 km to 3.5 km

The U K2 interface is the transmission technology most frequently used for primary rate connections in Germany .

U G2 interface

  • Line: fiber optic
  • Line code: for example 1T2B
  • Range: up to about 30 km

HDSL interface

  • Cable: One or two copper pairs
  • Line code: 2B1Q
  • Range range: 4.5 km to 8 km

In two-pair operation, the range is greater than in single-pair operation.

SHDSL interface

A two-pair operation is possible according to the specification.

Range

The range of each transmission technology generally depends on the design and quality of the cable route used . If required, the range can be through the use of repeaters (including repeaters ), should be increased, so that the exchange with distant customers primary rate interfaces can be supplied. In Germany, the maximum distance between the exchange and subscriber is 8 km.
