The NWA World Women's Championship is the women's championship of the US wrestling promotion National Wrestling Alliance . Introduced on August 20, 1954, the title was sold to the WWF by the then reigning title holder Moolah . The WWF then introduced the WWF Women's Championship as a successor title. These days the title is active and is only given to the Women's Division of the NWA roster. As is common in wrestling, the award is based on a previously determined storyline .

history

June Byers is recognized as the first female title holder by the National Wrestling Alliance after she won the 1954 Two-Out-Of-Three-Falls match against Mildred Burke. After June Byers' resignation in 1956, the title was mainly held by The Fabulous Moolah , who won that championship in a Battle Royal match in September 1956.

After the World Wrestling Federation and the NWA ended their relationship, Moolah's physical title belt was sold to the WWF. The WWF then introduced the WWF Women's Championship and recognized Moolah as the first and reigning title holder. However, the WWF did not recognize any of the title changes that had occurred since Moolah was first awarded in 1956.

After the sale, the title was deactivated for two years. The NWA women's title, however, continued its line after Combs won the vacant championship on February 12, 1986 in a 9-Woman Battle Royal Match.
