Na Clachan Aoraidh

Na Clachan Aoraidh ( German  "The Stones of Adoration" ), also Na Carraigean Edintean (after the farm, which in Gaelic Aodann a t-Sithein - German : The face of the fairy hill), stands about 420 m high on the limestone ridge of Cnoc na Craoibhe above Loch Tummel and is a Bronze Age four-post or " celestial stone circle " near Blair Atholl , west of Pitlochry in Perth and Kinross in Scotland .

The stones of Na Clachan Aoraidh form the corners of a square about three meters on a side. The largest stone is 1.2 m high and stands in the southwest. They stand on a platform 18 m in diameter, which is still around 60 cm high. It is planned to place the surrounding area under protection.

Four Poster Stones have a limited regional distribution. They belong to a monument class that consists of at least four menhirs that form the corners of a square or rectangle, so that the term circle ( English circle ) seems absurd. However, excavations have shown that these stone settings are remnants of former stone circles from the Bronze Age . If more than four stones are preserved, the four corner stones protrude in size. Four Poster Stone Circles are found primarily in Scotland , especially Perthshire .
