Hub drive

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

With the hub drive , the final reduction does not take place in the differential gear , but only in the wheel hub . Therefore, the turning side shafts comparatively with the same vehicle speed faster. To transmit the same power, the sideshafts have to transmit less torque according to the formula and can therefore be designed more easily. The hub drives are used, among other things, in heavy off-road utility vehicles .

Power , SI unit : [ W ]
Moment , SI unit : [ Nm ]
Angular velocity , SI unit : [1 / s ]

Wheel hub motors also move the motor itself into a housing around the wheel hub. This is usually designed as an electric motor.
