As refill are packaging refers to an original packaging for the same with the contents of packaged goods to be replenished. It usually uses a more flexible packaging material and has a lower dimensional stability than the original packaging , which significantly reduces the consumption of packaging material . Refill packs are used in particular in household chemistry and cosmetics , which are mostly liquid, pasty or pourable packaged goods. An example of refill packs are refill bags for liquid soap compared to the more robust soap dispenser packaging.

The frequent use of refill packs results in both ecological and economic advantages. In this way, a producer can avoid taking back packaging, which is usually not very profitable, while still giving the consumer the opportunity to continue to use the original packaging, which is often of high practical value .
