Overtravel

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The overrun is the distance that the mobile platen of a hydraulic press covers after an emergency stop has been triggered. This distance is determined with an overtravel distance measuring device. The distance covered is a measure of the quality of the hydraulic system. The measurement is prescribed for hydraulic presses in Germany by the accident prevention regulations and in Europe by DIN EN ISO 13855 , provided that they are equipped with human labor and / and the removal takes place in this way. The regulations differentiate between presses that are permanently monitored (by automatic units) and those that have to be checked repeatedly after a period has expired. In general, the measurement of the overtravel serves to protect the operator. The results and the description of the measurement must be entered in a press test book. When measuring the overrun, the worst case is always the one that has to be considered (documented).
