Communication technology switching technology (NTV) was the specialization of switching technology for the GDR training occupation as a skilled worker for communications technology . The training took place at a company school of Deutsche Post . This training course existed from around 1970, the forerunner being the telecommunications mechanic . The training lasted two and a half years, there was also a variant with a three-year training period and simultaneous acquisition of the Abitur . The skilled workers trained in this direction usually worked in the area of maintaining the switching systems of Deutsche Post.
