Names

There is no uniform transliteration for Arabic, which is why a number of different names are in use: Nahr Jaouze, Nahr al Jawz, Nahr al Jawzah, Nahr el Djouz, Nahr el Jaouz.

geography

The hydrographic system of Lebanon can be divided into 40 major rivers in five regions. The Jaouz belongs to the coastal region of Batrun .

course

The source of the Jaouz is located at Ain er-Raha near the Arz Tannourine reserve and generally runs in a westerly direction. Mousaylaha Castle is in a bend in the river , before turning to Arabic at the village of Koubba  كوبّا, north of Batrun, pours into the Levant Sea .

environmental pollution

The river dries up completely in summer, so pollution from household and industrial sewage is a major problem.
