Nahuelito , also known as the Patagonian plesiosaur , is the name of a sea monster that is said to live in Lake Nahuel Huapi in Argentina .

description

The Nahuelito is described as a reptile with a swan-like neck and a crocodile-like body. Many see it as a plesiosaur . It is often 4.50 to 6 meters long, but animals up to 45 m in length have also been seen.

Sightings

  • Clement Onelli, the director of the Buenos Aires Zoo , had kept hearing reports of an unknown animal since 1897. In 1922, the American gold prospector Martin Sheffield informed him about a nameless lake in which an enigmatic creature with a swan-like neck and crocodile-like body was supposed to live. After the description of the prospector, Onelli decided that an expedition should look for the mysterious sea monster. But the expedition, led by the zoo's superintendent, José Cihagi, equipped with dynamite and anti- tank rifles , was unsuccessful.
  • April 6, 1922, an article appeared in the Canadian newspaper Toronto Globe caused a sensation. The manager George Garett described his sighting of an unknown animal from 1910: He discovered a monster about 400 meters away with a diameter of 4.50 to 6 meters, which protruded an estimated 1.80 meters out of the water and after a few Minutes again disappeared. When he told his neighbors about it, they told him that Indians often talked about large aquatic animals that they would see from time to time.

In recent times, film recordings of Nahuelito have appeared again and again, but all of them only show waves that are said to have been caused by the animal.

Possible explanations

Some cryptozoologists consider Nahuelito to be a member of the plesiosaurs , which are believed to have been extinct for millions of years.

Some bogus theories have also been written about the existence of Nahuelito. The animals are said to be the result of the nuclear tests carried out in the 1950s . A February 17, 1960 article in the New York Post titled The Monster Rally Down Argentine Way alleged that Nessie swam eight miles from Scotland to Patagonia .
