The local transport Hohenlohekreis (NVH) serves to serve the rural Hohenlohekreis by means of a relatively dense public transport bus service.

It is the direct successor of the Hohenlohe local transport model , an attempt started in 1979 to improve public transport in a sparsely populated rural area. The aim at the beginning was the hourly service of every settlement with more than fifty inhabitants. The operation was carried out only by buses, the passenger traffic on the settlement along the axis Kocher still trains running Kettle Valley Railway was shut down for the time being for the duration of the trial since the investigation of a mixed bus train operation was not the aim of the studies. Since 1991 there has been no traffic at all on the railway line.

The goals of the model were ambitious and in some cases quite ahead of their time, but the density of operations had to be gradually reduced again and again. However, there was never an end in the form of a caesura, after a few years the operation was transferred to the permanent status of the successor company Nahverkehr Hohenlohekreis quite seamlessly while retaining the facts that had been created .

State of affairs: In 2004/2005 around 1,300 stops were served with around 110 vehicles on an area of 780 km². Spread over 60 lines, the vehicles cover a distance of around 6.6 million km annually. In 2003 the NVH carried over 9.0 million passengers.

Since April 1, 2005, the NVH has been included in the tariff in the Heilbronner Hohenloher Haller Nahverkehr , but still exists.

structure

The NVH operates 4 specific types of bus routes as own brands, the blue RegioBus , the turquoise FrankenExpress , the pink StadtBus and the yellow TaxiBus . The paintwork and the appearance of the buses will be designed accordingly.

The RegioBus lines are used for general, large-scale operation of the NVH area. Most of the NVH bus routes are RegioBus routes . The FrankenExpress -Linien are bus connections between the medium- sized centers, where the focus is on the fastest possible arrival at the destination. The city bus lines are used for inner-city service in larger cities or between the districts of a municipality. The TaxiBus lines serve to connect small, remote hamlets to the rest of the bus network. They are organized as demand-driven on-call buses.

The RegioBus lines 7 and 19, which connect the district town of Künzelsau with the Waldenburg train station and with Bad Mergentheim , are a special feature : These run at least every hour between 5 a.m. and 10 p.m. (line 7: 5 a.m. to 11 p.m.) and operate always via free WiFi access. Air-conditioned buses are also used. The reason for this was the implementation of the goal of creating a regular connection to rail traffic.
