from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Városi és Elővárosi Közlekedési Egyesület (in German Urban and Suburban Tourist Association , VEKE for short ) is a Hungarian association for urban and suburban traffic.

organization

The head office of the association is in Budapest . The aim of the association is to improve local transport in Hungarian cities. That is why the association forms local groups that deal with current problems in local transport. For example, there is also a local chapter in Érd that deals with improving urban and suburban traffic in Érd.

Of course, the association can work with other organizations and authorities, but only if they have no political orientation.

Working groups

The members of the association are active in two working groups:

  • Transport Development Working Group

The work process of the traffic development plans takes a lot of time and cooperation to create a better traffic situation. So the members make various concepts, plans, investigations and lobbying activities. The association organizes events, press releases produces brochures and information materials.

  • Company history working group

This working group deals with the history of local sales in Hungary. It organizes days of remembrance, makes educational campaigns. One of her goals is to introduce a fixed and irregular nostalgia operation, which is why she organized various nostalgia trips in 2004 and 2005.

The association also has a website. There the association demonstrates the design and development of transport in Hungary and Europe.

Results so far in Budapest and the surrounding area

  • From November 1, 2003, tram line 41 was extended. Instead of going to Móricz Zsigmond körtér , it goes to Batthányi tér , which is also the end of tram line 19.
  • From July 1, 2005, the timetable of the bus routes between Érd and Budapest was changed. Since then, more night buses have been available.
  • From July 4, 2005, bus line 112 was extended to Kálvin Square , so that the line has better transfer options.
  • On September 1, 2005, night traffic in Budapest was reformed. Since then there are 29 night lines that serve the whole city.
  • From October 29, 2005, tram line 52 will run with articulated multiple units of the TW6000 series from Hanover. Until now, UV trains have run here.
  • On December 3, 2005, the line bundle 7 was reformed. Terminals and timetables for the basic and express lines (with red line numbers ) were rationalized.
  • In February 2006: Before the parameter book from BKV Zrt. (Budapester Verkehrs-Gesellschaft) had been approved, the VEKE's proposals were accepted by the BKV. The association has averted timetable changes and line reductions.

The association also presented numerous preparatory studies. One of the most important studies is the proposal to connect underground line 2 with the S-Bahn between Gödöllő and Budapest. The proposal was rejected due to a lack of funds and political reasons.

Other important suggestions

  • The cog railway is to be extended in both directions to Moskauer Platz and Normafa .
  • The tram lines 67 and 44 should be available again after a track renewal.
  • The tram lines 14, 47 and 49 should go to Nyugati tér (Westbahnhof). Then it would again form a direct tram connection between North and South Pest.
  • The association also deals with plans to expand the S-Bahn traffic in the region.
