Barbara Ferries

Barbara Hale Ferries-Henderson (born September 5, 1944 in Houghton , Michigan ) is a former American ski racer .

Ferries was part of the US national ski team in the 1960s, as did her brother Chuck . At the age of 16, she won slalom , downhill and combined in the Harriman Cup in Sun Valley in 1961 . She celebrated her greatest success at the 1962 World Ski Championships in Chamonix : as a 17-year-old one of the youngest in the field, she won the bronze medal in the downhill and was also fifth in the giant slalom .

In her only Olympic participation in Innsbruck in 1964 , she was unable to confirm these results and only finished 20th in the giant slalom. After the 1964 Winter Games, she ended her active career.
