Nakamura Murao
Nakamura Murao ( Japanese 中 村 武羅夫 , Nakamura Murao ; * October 4, 1886 , † May 13, 1949 ) was a Japanese literary theorist and critic.
Nakamura started the debate about the " first-person novel " and the "authentic novel" (honkaku shosetsu) with the article Honkaku shōsetsu to shinkyō shōsetsu to , which he published in early 1924 in the literary magazine Shin shōsetsu . Here he puts the Japanese-influenced first-person novel, which, written from the personal perspective of the narrator, puts in the foreground who has written a text, against the European novel written in the Er form, in which the focus is on what is in is written in a text. At the same time, however, he saw the first-person novel as the more authentic form of literature, since the “authentic novel”, which is based not only on the author's own experience, inevitably has fictions mixed in. The subject was taken up and discussed by critics such as Kume Masao and others in the following years.
