The lead ship of a series of nine per 900,000 Argentine Peso expensive minesweepers was on 20 March 1936 by the shipyard Arsenal de la Base Naval de Río Santiago in Río Santiago on Río de la Plata launched in and on 27 January 1937 by the Argentine Navy Commissioned as Bouchard with the number M10 . The Bouchard , which belonged to the first minesweeper division in Puerto Belgrano, was only completed on May 16, 1937 with the number M7 . Between May and July 1947, the vehicle was used to protect Paraguayan gunboats on the Parana River during the coup attempts in Paraguay, and in 1952 the Bouchard was re- armed. On September 20, 1963 decommissioning in the Argentine Navy was decided and in January 1964 the mine sweeper, together with the sister ship Seaver, was given as a gift to Paraguay, where it was taken over on March 14 of the same year as Nanawa . The name Nanawa was chosen in memory of the Battle of Nanawa on January 20, 1933. The vehicle, which has only been used for patrols since June 1989, is now still part of the active Paraguayan Navy with the designation P02 .
Armament
The Nanawa is armed with two 40 mm Bofors guns and two 12.7 mm machine guns .
