Masayuki Naoshima
Masayuki Naoshima ( Japanese. 直 嶋 正 行 , Naoshima Masayuki ; born October 23, 1945 in Ikeda , Osaka Prefecture ) is a Japanese politician of the Minshintō , former member of the Sangiin , the Japanese upper house, and former minister of economy of his country. In the party he belongs to the Kawabata group .
After graduating from the business administration faculty of Kobe University in 1971, Naoshima worked for Toyota Motor . From 1984 he took over management positions at the "All-Japanese Association of Workers' Unions in the Automotive Industry" (short: Jidōsha-Sōren / JAW), in 1991 he became deputy chairman.
In 1992 Naoshima switched to politics and was elected to Sangiin for the first time as a candidate for the Democratic Socialist Party (DSP) via the proportional representation list. In 1994 he became a member of the New Progressive Party , then in 1998 a member of the “New Brotherhood Party ” before it finally became part of the Democratic Party . Naoshima was re-elected for the DPJ in the 1998 and 2004 elections.
In the Sangiin, Naoshima was a member of various committees, including the Finance, Transportation, and Budget Committees, and the Constitutional Special Committee. In the Democratic Party, he has been a member of several shadow cabinets since 1999 as shadow vice minister (state secretary). In 2007 he took over the chairmanship of the Policy Research Council and was also introduced as "the next cabinet secretary".
After the Democrats came to power in September 2009, Naoshima was appointed Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry in the Hatoyama cabinet . Under Hatoyama's successor Naoto Kan , he was initially taken over in his cabinet , replaced by Akihiro Ōhata in September 2010 .
In the 2016 Sangiin election , Naoshima did not run after four terms.
