Minshakyōkai

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Minshakyōkai ( Japanese 民 社 協会 , "Democratic-Socialist Society") is a faction of the Japanese Democratic People's Party (English DPFP). Originally, the Minshakyōkai was a faction of the Democratic Party (English DPJ), which went up in 2016 in the Democratic Progressive Party (English DP) to the representative Yoshiaki Takaki . It was therefore also called the Takaki group ( 髙 木 グ ル ー プ , Takaki gurūpu from English Takaki group ). He took over the chairmanship of the parliamentary group after his predecessor Tatsuo Kawabata was voted out of office in the 2012 Shūgiin election . After Takagi's retirement from politics in 2017, Masao Kobayashi was appointed chairman of the faction in March 2018 . The Minshakyōkai currently (2020) consists of nine members of the Democratic People's Party.

After the final dissolution of the NFP in 1997, the faction had a total of around 30 members from the two DPJ parliamentary groups. Its base consists of former members of the Democratic Socialist Party (Minshatō) , who traditionally have close ties to the former trade union federation Dōmei - today part of Rengō . She was close to the Hatoyama group until 2012 , with many members belonging to both factions.
