Narcissus (athlete)
Narcissus († 193 ) was a Roman athlete . He was in the service of the Roman emperor Commodus and put an end to his life on December 31, 192 by order of a group of conspirators, which included the imperial concubine Marcia and the Praetorian prefect Quintus Aemilius Laetus . He strangled him with a string while he was in the bathroom. Narcissus was killed by predators in the arena the following year at the behest of the new emperor Septimius Severus .
