The Nares Glacier is a 1 km wide, glacial ice stream on the island of Heard in the Indian Ocean . It flows, flanked on both sides by rocky mountain ridges, in a northerly direction to Corinthian Bay .
It is named after George Nares (1831–1915), the leader of the Challenger Expedition (1872–1876).
