Narimane Mari

Narimane Mari (* 1969 in Algiers ) is an Algerian - French filmmaker .

life and work

Narimane Mari started working for various communication agencies in Paris. She worked in the print sector as well as for Canal + and helped set up art galleries. In 2010 she founded Allers Retours Films , an institute for documentary films.

Mari made her debut in 2001 with the film L'arpenteur and was awarded the Jean Vigo Prize for it. In 2013 she showed Loubia Hamra / Bloody Beans . This film has won several awards and has been shown at numerous film festivals (including the Copenhagen International Documentary Festival). In 2015 the film La vie Courante was shown at the Center Georges-Pompidou . Le fort des fous had its premiere in 2017 at the Locarno Festival . The video installation Le fort des fous was shown at documenta 14 in the Kasseler Ballhaus in 2017 .
