Narte
The Narte (also "Narta" ) refers to a simple reindeer or dog sled of the northern Russian and Siberian peoples. It is a simple (load) sledge with two wooden runners that are connected to one another via a wooden frame. The term is traced back to the language of the northern Russian Komi people and has also found its way into other languages via Russian. In Yiddish, for example, the sledge is called “Narte” and in Polish “Narta” is the ski .
