Nasaruddin Umar

Haji Nasaruddin Umar ( Arabic نصر الدين عمر; * June 23, 1959 in Ujung Bone) is an Indonesian Islamic scholar and university professor. He is the President of the Institute for Advanced Qur'anic Studies ; Secretary General of the Nahdhatul Ulama Consultative Council ; Professor in the Faculty of Theology at Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta and Director General of Islamic Leadership of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

He was one of the 138 signatories of the open letter a common word between us and you ( Engl. A Common Word Between Us and You ), the personalities of Islam to "leaders of Christian churches everywhere" (Engl. "Leaders of Christian Churches, everywhere ... “) (October 13, 2007).

In 2009 he was listed in the list of 500 Most Influential Muslims by the Prince Al-Waleed Bin Talaal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding at Georgetown University and the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Center of Jordan .
