Nasal aspirator

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A nasal aspirator is a device used to aspirate nasal secretions . It sucks off the nasal mucus by generating negative pressure , electrically or by sucking with the mouth.

Simple models consist of a rubber hose and a collecting filter. This catches the sucked off nasal mucus and can either be replaced or cleaned for hygienic reasons.

Nasal aspirators are recommended by paediatricians and midwives because small children cannot blow their nose independently .
