The nasal pull is a unique carnival custom in Wolfach in the Black Forest , Baden-Württemberg .

It is the last of the twelve carnival parades and traditionally begins on Shrove Tuesday [Fasnetzischdig] at 5 pm on a magnolia tree in front of the historic castle gate. From there, the participants move in single file through the taverns and streets of the city for around 2 hours. Each of the 300 fools carries a possible original designed nose, a hat with kindling and a letz (reversed) dressed jacket. In addition, the train participants carry one or more noise instruments with them, which they make frequent use of during the train. Ancient horns, which produce very low tones, whistles, ratchets and of course all kinds of percussion instruments from pot lids to disused circular saw blades, which are struck with a metal stick, are popular. The nasal procession ends in the western courtyard of the Fürstenberg Castle, where the participants repeat all of the city's carnival slogans. This ceremony is followed by the Nasenzugerball in the palace hall, which ends at midnight sharp .

A special feature of the nasal train is that only men are allowed to participate. If a woman is discovered on the train, she ends up - regardless of winter temperatures - in the ice-cold city fountain. The women “baptized” in this way, in turn, spray the nostrils and the bystanders wet from the well. It happens again and again that those supposedly exposed as women are men. In addition, the nostrils also use their instruments (horns or tin cans) to draw water at the well and to water the audience.
