National Amusements is a US company headquartered in Dedham , Massachusetts .

In 1936 the company was founded by Michael Redstone under the name Northeast Theater Corporation . It operates cinemas in the United States (Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Ohio) as well as Argentina, Brazil, and the United Kingdom. The cinemas are organized in the cinema chains Showcase Cinemas SuperLux, Cinema de Lux, Showcase Cinemas and Multiplex Cinemas. The company has controlling interests in Viacom and CBS Corporation as well as an interest in the cinema ticket website MovieTickets.com .

National Amusements has been run by Michael Redstone's son Sumner Redstone , who owns 80% of the company's shares , since 1967 . The remaining 20% ​​is owned by Sumner Redstone's daughter Shari Redstone .
