National Democratic Forum

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

National Democratic Forum was the early name of an electoral alliance consisting of the United Party for National Development , the Forum for Democracy and Development, and the United National Independence Party .

The electoral alliance wanted to pool the votes of its parties by running a joint candidate against incumbent President Levy Mwanawasa in the 2006 election in Zambia . This electoral alliance then came under the name United Democratic Alliance - probably also for the reason that an electoral alliance National Democratic Focus also took up. That would not have allowed a clear profile even in the name.
