The National Drug Code ( NDC ) is a number assigned to drugs by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Structure of the number

The number consists of 10 decimal places with the sections:

  • 4-5 digit label code
  • 3-4 digit product code
  • 1-2-digit package code

The sections are separated by a hyphen.
