National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda

The National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR) is the state statistical agency of Rwanda . Its administrative headquarters are in Kigali .

structure

Management is the responsibility of a general manager and his deputy. A board of directors is superordinate to the general director , the members of which serve for a period of three years. This administrative board has the authority to issue guidelines for the statistical authority, provides internal rules and decides on the priorities and framework conditions for all censuses and statistical studies in Rwanda.

The higher-level government agency is the Rwanda Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning .

The NISR is divided into three main areas with subdivisions. These are:

Office of the Chief of joint management ( Office of the Head of Corporate Services )

  • Human Resources and Administration (Personnel and Administration)
  • Procurement (Procurement)
  • Finance (Finance)

Office of the Deputy Director General ( Office of the Deputy Director General )

  • Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
  • Statistical Methods, Research and Publications (statistical methodology, research and public relations)
  • Social and Demographic Statistics (Social and demographic statistics)
  • Economic Statistics ( economic statistics )
  • Census ( population census )

Office of the individual project coordinator ( Office of the Coordinator SPIU )

Legal basis

The legal bases for the Rwandan statistical authority are Act No. 53 of 2013 and Act No. 45 of 2013.

tasks

The tasks include collecting and collecting reliable data, analyzing and documenting them and publishing processed data.

history

The agency was created in October 2005 as an independent institution from the former Department of Statistics in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning (MINECOFIN) and the National Service of Census .
